Zoo Knoxville Komodo dragon Khaleesi dies


NEWPORT UTILITIES ORIGINALLY REPORTING WIDESPREAD POWER OUTAGES FOLLOWING THE STORM.. AS OF THIS MORNING.. POWER HAS RETURNED TO MOST OF THEIR CUSTOMERS. DOUG SOME SAD NEWS TO PASS ALONG THIS MORNING.. ZOO KNOXVILLE ANNOUNCING THEIR BELOVED KOMODO DRAGON HAS DIED. TEARSA: KHALEESI WAS NAMED AFTER THE POPULAR “GAME OF THRONES” CHARACTER – HATCHING AT THE LOS ANGELES ZOO BACK IN 2010. SHE CAME TO ZOO KNOXVILLE IN 2011.. ZOO STAFF SAYING KHALEESI HAD RECENTLY SHOWED BEHAVIOR INDICATING SHE WAS CARRYING EGGS. SHE WAS TAKEN TO THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE COLLEGE OF VETERINARY MEDICINE FOR A C-T SCAN.. AND WAS BEING MONITORED CLOSELY BY HER CARETAKERS AND VET TEAM.. HOWEVER – KHALEESI WAS FOUND DEAD DURING AN EARLY MORNING CHECK YESTERDAY.. INITIAL NECROPSY RESULTS INDICATE THE CAUSE OF HER DEATH WAS AN INFECTION IN HER REPRODUCTIVE TRACT. TEARSA: SOME MUSIC ICONS WHO LIVED IN KNOXVILLE ARE BEING HONORED WITH A NEW PARK.. THAT NOW BARES THEIR NAME. DOUG DON AND PHIL EVERLY – BETTER KNOWN AS THE EVERLY BROTHERS –
